Man’s Best Friend-In This Life and the Next
“Arf Angels and Other Heavenly Creatures” Proves that Ghosts Can Have Two Legs or Four

CASTRO VALLEY, CALIFORNIA - Ghost stories are a prevalent genre of literature.  It seems that many people appear to friends, family members, and even strangers after they die.  However, what if the ghost isn’t a person at all?  What if the ghost is a fondly remembered pet?  Author Anita Perry explores this possibility in Arf Angels and Other Heavenly Creatures (now available from the publisher, 1stBooks Library; other online booksellers, bookstores, and ArfAngels.net).

Containing fifty true stories of animal visitations, Arf Angels describes pet owners’ experiences and how they have seen, smelled, felt, and/or heard their pets after the pets’ passing.  These animal ‘ghost stories’ illustrate the unique and powerful bond that exists between a pet and its owner.

For example, a young woman in an abusive relationship with a policeman was able to move out and move on after her dog intervened and took a punch that was meant for her.  Another woman, Vickie, shares her story of abuse (both physical and sexual), and tells of the safety and comfort she found while riding her horse, Pretty Boy.  His appearance, after his death, confirmed her freedom from the torment that had plagued her for so long.

Compelling and uplifting, “Arf Angels tells the whole story from beginning to end and then beyond in a sensitive, charming, sometimes humorous, sometimes sad, and loving way.  If you have had a similar experience, these stories can validate your feelings and offer consolation.”

Author Anita Perry combined her love of writing and her compassion for animals to produce this witty and wise book.  She has owned, rescued, fostered, learned from, and loved many animals in her life; however, her dog, Barney, inspired Arf Angels when he appeared after his death.  Two years in the making, Arf Angels is Ms. Perry's first book, although she has written a gardening column and numerous articles for San Francisco Bay area newspapers.  Ms. Perry resides in Castro Valley, California.  A portion of the profit from the sale of Arf Angels will be donated to animal shelters and nonprofit organizations who save and care for animals.  For more information visit: ArfAngels.net.
